Consistency over gimmicks
On most uncensored apps the scene drifts and the personality flattens, leaving you to haul things back on course. Across a fortnight, Secret Desires needed the least correcting of any app I tried.
| Comparison point | Secret Desires | Joi | Camsoda AI |
|---|---|---|---|
| Roleplay | Stays in the scene | You carry it | Whatever you designed |
| Boundaries in the builder | Yes | No | Yes |
| Native apps | No | No | No |
| Price before sign-up | Hidden | Lowest listed | Hidden |
Why boundaries matter
As well as defining who your companion is, the builder lets you set what it should steer clear of. That's the difference between a character that respects a boundary and one that barrels straight through it.
The drawbacks
It only runs in a browser, and there's no published price until you've registered. The community gallery is massive but hugely uneven, so I built my own character rather than picking one from it.
One scene, forty messages
I kept a single scene going for forty-odd messages. The setting, the boundary and the character's voice all held. On Joi, a scene that long would have meant repeating the premise over and over.
