Few words are promised more loosely than "uncensored". Every app has a hard floor: material that is illegal anywhere, along with conditions imposed by the companies that process its payments. And plenty of apps that boast about having no filter will still refuse a request, dilute it, or drop the thread partway through.
Our filters explainer, content filters, goes into the how and why. For this article we asked a different set of questions. Does a character remain herself deep into an adult scene? Do the boundaries you set survive? How much does media cost? And what does the company do with the most personal material you will ever give an app?
The four we rate for adult use
All results come from about a fortnight of testing per app.

Nomi and Sweetdream also let adult content through, but other qualities recommend them: memory for Nomi, the free plan for Sweetdream. Two absentees: Replika has shut off NSFW for accounts created after early 2023, and Kupid AI makes characters that come across as affectionate more than explicit.
What we found, app by app
Secret Desires. In our test this was among the very few apps still coherent twenty messages into a scene. The builder handles looks, voice, personality and limits, and the limits stayed in force. The privacy side is worse. Reporters discovered in November 2025 that its cloud storage was open to anyone with the link, revealing close to two million images and videos. Many were explicit face-swaps of real women, produced with a feature the company has since dropped. Access was shut once the company heard about it. If you sign up, do not upload photos, and treat whatever you generate as something that might one day be public. The full story is in AI companion data breaches.
Candy AI. This one won our top overall spot, since chat, images of a consistent character and voice all sit inside one plan, and the character kept the same face for a whole week. Go hard on images and you may hit a fair-use limit. The maths is in the real cost of AI image generation.
Camsoda AI. Made for people who prefer to be in charge. The character builder has six steps, one of which lets you list subjects she may never raise, and every character keeps its own memory. Expect a noisy first few minutes. It runs only in a browser.
Joi. Choose it when the price tag makes the call. It is the cheapest way into uncensored chat in our ranking, and the barest product, with short answers and a poor memory. Good for a low-cost trial of the category, but not a place to stay.
Set yourself up safely first
- Sign up with a fresh email address that has no trace of your name. If anything leaks, this does the most to protect you.
- Keep real photos out of it, yours or anyone else's. Making or sharing sexual images of a real person without consent is against the law in many places. If someone does it to you, eSafety takes image-based abuse reports at esafety.gov.au/report. Also see consent in NSFW AI chat.
- Check the merchant name your card statement will show. Payment privacy walks through it.
- Get ready for age verification, and if you have a choice, take the method that reveals the least about you. Age verification has the detail.
- Start on a monthly plan. Adult features change faster than anything else in these apps, pushed around by payment processors and legislation.
Boundaries that hold
Adult roleplay goes far better when you decide the boundaries before the scene starts. Fill in the builder's limits field if it has one, add a line about pace and tone to the character description, and if she wanders, correct her with an out-of-character note instead of debating her.
